We’re Sara and Paolo, born in 1990 under the sign of Pisces, stubborn dreamers. We met talking about the countries we wanted to visit, and we haven’t stopped travelling together since. We’ve covered kilometers on foot, by bike, car, train and plane, until in May 2022 we decided that a van could be the ideal home to help us collect emotions rather than souvenirs and postcards around the world.
So we set off together with Olimpia, our Rottweiler and lifelong favourite travel companion, and Sakè, a European cat rescued almost by chance (or by luck) one Saturday afternoon. Ever since, we’ve lived aboard 9 square meters in a perfect balance so we don’t step on each other’s feet and paws.
Since we left we’ve crossed 39 countries across 4 continents, covering over 130,000 km in more than 4 years of almost non-stop travel. Every border we cross means one more chance to learn something: a language, a culture, a recipe, a sound.
We love stopping to chat with anyone: locals, fellow foreigners, and fellow Italians alike.
Every day we look for new work and creative stimuli, which is why we decided to open this blog and a YouTube channel , so we can share our experience and everything we discover along the way.
Where are we headed next? We’ve changed a lot since we set off. If we once needed to know where we’d wake up the next day, today we leave much more room for improvisation. The world out here sometimes offers roads it would be a shame not to take.
Where we’ve been
We’ve written about every leg of the trip as it happened. To name a few of the countries we crossed: a first long trip southwest — Italy, France, Portugal, Spain, Morocco, Mauritania and Senegal — and a second one heading east — Turkey, Iraq, Georgia and the Caucasus, Russia, Mongolia, South Korea and Japan.
